ted.hering 04 Sep : 21:29 Hi, numan, Here's a like that provides a good list of Spike's CDs: [link].
I can't spot either of the songs you want. Funny the 1940s stuff has been issued over and over, but there are a lot of gaps in Spike's 1950s records.
numan428 23 Aug : 19:30 does anyone know which cd's (available in the uk) have spike jones's songs "molasses molasses" and "mommy wont you buy a baby brother" on please ?
chuber 13 Aug : 22:59 have you hear Spikes 'Hocha Cornea' on the cadbury fish ad? its AMAZING!
ted.hering 12 Aug : 06:22 Hi, Zany, Spike recorded a box set of six Charlestons on 45s. And his versions of the classical tunes "Liebestraum," "Rhapsody from Hunger(y)," and "Morpheus" were mostly instrumental, with brief spoken bridges. If it was a 78, it might have been "Holiday for Strings." Another instrumental Spike recorded (on 78) was Hotcha Cornia (the old Russian song "Dark Eyes"),
zany 02 Aug : 06:18 does anyone know of a 45 RPM record that came out in the late 1960's of Spike Jones instrumental music ? I don't know the name of the song but it was hilariously funny with just instruments playing. No vocals were used at all.
Doowopdaddy 14 Jul : 17:33 No, Claire Brandt looks completely different. She isn´t Kay Cee Jones. Can´t it be that Kathleen Dana Jones (daughter of Bernie Jones) was the alias of Kay Cee Jones? No idea?
ted.hering 01 Jul : 05:24 Hi, Doowopdaddy, wasn't Kay Cee married to songwriter Eddie Brandt? (Definitely not Spike of Freddy.)
ted.hering 01 Jul : 05:21 Hi, Dic2phone, "Mama Look at Boo Boo" was a hit for Harry Belefante.
Doowopdaddy 23 Jun : 15:43 Hello. Does anybody knows the relationship between singer KAY CEE JONES and her songwriters Freddy Morgan and Eddie Brandt and Bernie or Spike Jones? Is/was she a relative with hits like "Japanese farewell Song"?
sorry to bother you all with my mails to other people. I'm new around here - but a Spike adept since 1955. Any questions?

Can anyone gve me the appropriate credits for the ff. Spike Jones Show skits, both entitled "The Foreign Legion" - Mar. 6, 1954 and April 30, 1957? Data needed for a book of the French Foreign Legion in the media. Thanks!

No, you're probably thinking of "Serutan Yob" by the UnNatural Seven on Capitol Records in 1948. Supposedly this was supervised by Red Ingle, but Red was prohibited from actually performing because the Musicians Union was on strike. The vocal was by Red's band singer Karen Tedder, and a zany disc jockey named Hawthorne. The backup band consisted of non-union amateur ukelele players, and Hawthorne's own thumb-piano contraption, the "Hoganwanger".

ted.hering on Saturday 31 March 2007 - 12:03:48
Do you mean "The New Band of Spike Jones" that played folk/dixie? Spike recorded four of these LPs, but only one or two tracks have made it to compilation CDs (by various "Bachelor Pad" artists).
Spike also had a straight "big band" in 1946 he called his "Other Orchestra." No CDs.
atticman on Friday 30 March 2007 - 01:01:10
Does anyone know of any cd's by Spike and his "alternative orchestra"? I believe they played conventional music

Just saying hi to everyone. I'm new to the site and I was always a big fan of Spike Jones and his Band. Has anyone heard of the Harmonicats????
ted.hering on Saturday 17 March 2007 - 22:46:38
I know what you mean. My friends were into Elvis when I was first introduced to Spike Jones.
There have one or two Spike Jones songs issued in NZ but not the USA.
shirley c on Saturday 17 March 2007 - 02:35:08
greetings folks from the uttermost ends of the earth - yes New Zealand has Spike Jones fans as well. I recall with great fondness listening to Spikes band as a young child - much to the amazement of my sisters who were all into the beatles at the time.

"Get Up Off'n That Floor Hannah" (Them pigs have gotta be fed) was by ex-Slicker RED INGLE and his Natural Seven, on Capitiol Records. (It has been reissued on a Red Ingle German import CD.)
ted.hering on Saturday 13 January 2007 - 23:14:12
UBHANK is probably thinking of "Hawaiian War Chant" by "Spike Jones and his Wacky Wakikians."
fido on Saturday 13 January 2007 - 17:47:26
Can anyone help me find a song that includes the lyric: 'Get up off that floor hannah'? My father thinks it was a Spike Jones/ city Slickers song. Fido

I grew up in the '50s listening to Spike Jones and the City Slickers on single 78 records. (My birthdate is 1944 but I'll settle for 1950!)My father & I would listen and laugh. I seem to remember that some of the recordings were made by Spike Jones & his Whacky Whacketeers (I'm not sure of the spelling). I can since find no mention of this name - was I dreaming? Can anyone help please?

I grew up in the `40s listening to the City Slickers album of the Nutcracker Suite (Your website won't let me be born before 1950. THANKS) I think it's why I fell in love with the classics and have attended Atlanta Symphony concerts for over 30 years. I would love to find copies for my grandsons. Any ideas about where to find the album?
