ted.hering 04 Sep : 21:29 Hi, numan, Here's a like that provides a good list of Spike's CDs: [link].
I can't spot either of the songs you want. Funny the 1940s stuff has been issued over and over, but there are a lot of gaps in Spike's 1950s records.
numan428 23 Aug : 19:30 does anyone know which cd's (available in the uk) have spike jones's songs "molasses molasses" and "mommy wont you buy a baby brother" on please ?
chuber 13 Aug : 22:59 have you hear Spikes 'Hocha Cornea' on the cadbury fish ad? its AMAZING!
ted.hering 12 Aug : 06:22 Hi, Zany, Spike recorded a box set of six Charlestons on 45s. And his versions of the classical tunes "Liebestraum," "Rhapsody from Hunger(y)," and "Morpheus" were mostly instrumental, with brief spoken bridges. If it was a 78, it might have been "Holiday for Strings." Another instrumental Spike recorded (on 78) was Hotcha Cornia (the old Russian song "Dark Eyes"),
zany 02 Aug : 06:18 does anyone know of a 45 RPM record that came out in the late 1960's of Spike Jones instrumental music ? I don't know the name of the song but it was hilariously funny with just instruments playing. No vocals were used at all.
Doowopdaddy 14 Jul : 17:33 No, Claire Brandt looks completely different. She isn´t Kay Cee Jones. Can´t it be that Kathleen Dana Jones (daughter of Bernie Jones) was the alias of Kay Cee Jones? No idea?
ted.hering 01 Jul : 05:24 Hi, Doowopdaddy, wasn't Kay Cee married to songwriter Eddie Brandt? (Definitely not Spike of Freddy.)
ted.hering 01 Jul : 05:21 Hi, Dic2phone, "Mama Look at Boo Boo" was a hit for Harry Belefante.
Doowopdaddy 23 Jun : 15:43 Hello. Does anybody knows the relationship between singer KAY CEE JONES and her songwriters Freddy Morgan and Eddie Brandt and Bernie or Spike Jones? Is/was she a relative with hits like "Japanese farewell Song"?
Hey there! this is specifically a message for ted.hering- looking for more and better info on Lynn Johnson(recently posted w. Eddie Brandt/"Hollywood Babysitter"- He was my grandfather and I'm looking for as much of his music /radio/ tv work as possible! Thank you so much for keeping this music alive! So much great stuff!

Hi, Contramisic, The Flight of the Bumblebee with the laughing is "The Jones Laughing Record" from 1946. Spike remade the track as "Sneezin' Bee" 1956 with just the sneezes (no laughing) - used on his LP "Dinner Music for People Who Aren't Very Hungry."
contramusic on Monday 09 March 2009 - 15:10:57
I cannot find a recording of Flight of the Bumble Bee. The nearest i get is a track with 30 seconds of laughing and about 2 seconds of trombone. Can anybody help, please?

I have been a Spike Jones fan since the early 40's.I bought some records back then but they were lost when I went in the navy. I started collecting his records in the 60's again.I have a sizeable collection. Does anyone know a spike Jones fan that would like to buy my collection. My health is going down hill and I would like to see my collection in the hands of a fan instead of in a land fill.

Hi, I'm really sorry, I only updated the uploads today. Due to risking spam and misuse I have to do it manually. Thank you Ted for the uploads!!
ted.hering on Saturday 17 January 2009 - 01:09:13
Answer to Carlyle - I could email the sound file if I had your address. Meanwhile, I will upload 'Black Bottom' to the file section on this BBS.
Carlyle on Sunday 04 January 2009 - 03:18:36
Hmm... I cannot find "Black Bottom" anywhere as a free mp3 download. (I'm a composer and I'm studying the music of the '20s, '30s, '40s, and '50s so I'm trying to get as many pieces music from those decades that I can study from.)

Hi, Mike, Spike's harpists included Betsy Mills, Charlotte Tinsley, Mary Jane Barton, Corky Hale, and others. I was told last June that Corky is still living. I don't know which (if any) was also in the Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnez) band.
mikemc on Tuesday 18 November 2008 - 18:37:01
does anyone know the name of the harpist and where i can find info about her? also, is she the same harpist from the Ricky Ricardo orchestra?

Hi, Ray, look for the DVD "Spike Jones the Legend." It countins 4 hours of early TV shows starring Spike. Paramount also issued 4 VHS tapes a few years ago of "The Best of Spike Jones" (more TV shows) - these are out of print, but you can find used copies fairly cheap.
The only other DVD is the movie "Thank Your Lucky Stars" from 1942, with Spike playing "Hotcha Cornia."

I am writing a career overview of singer Helen Grayco (Mrs. Spike Jones) for Japan's Jazz Critique Magazine. I think I have nailed down all of her commercial recordings under her own name. But I would also be curious to know how much she recorded commercially with the "Other Orchestra" and also transriptions and also how much, beyond None But the Lonely Heart, che recorded on Jones' RCA, Verve, Liberty, etc. releases. Thanks for any help you can lend me.
christopher on Saturday 18 October 2008 - 06:10:46
Does anyone know where I can find a 45 recorded by Spike's wife, Helen Grayco? It's called "That's How Nature Made HIm" and was released in 1977.

I'm looking for "Hotter than a Pistol," the flipside to "Hot Lips," either as an MP3 download or on CD.
Roy on Tuesday 29 July 2008 - 12:01:27
Thanks to Ted Hering, the "Desperadoes Doom" is now available for download. - A hard to find novelty from Barbary Coast Records. This track is the final cut on the LP. The saloon band is picked off one-by-one by music critics.
ted.hering on Monday 23 June 2008 - 03:30:44
Ron, you can find several with a Google or Yahoo search (click on "Images"). Flickr seems to have a growing assortment. Still, there aren't as many photos of Spike as you might expect. I wonder why that is?
Ronald E. Villa on Sunday 22 June 2008 - 08:58:35
Ted, thank you for this information. I have been trying to get pictures of the band from 1945 to 1960. I haven't located many on the internet. Can you direct me to a source for the pictures. Best Regards, Ron

Hi, Sunni,
I've posted a photo of Charlotte with Spike's Other Orchestra in the Forum section.
Sunni 1 on Friday 14 March 2008 - 08:31:05
I would like to find a photo of Spike Jones' orchestra showing harpist Charlotte Tinsley - because I have the harp Charlotte used when she first worked with Spike.

Hi, Glenn, Yes, sometimes Spike had has secretary sign his letters... so the letterhead doesn't prove the signature is really Spike's. Can you make a scan of your letter? I can probably identity the signature.
ted.hering on Tuesday 19 February 2008 - 19:37:15
Hi, Jaime! The Perez Prado number appears on the Paramount VHS, "A Spike Jones Musical Wreck-We-Um." Unfortunately the Art Tatum clip has never been issued, but the segment appeared on YouTube about a year ago. It might still be there.

I found the answer to my question..."In a Persian Market."
G. Andes on Sunday 17 February 2008 - 23:15:31
I came across an old letter from Spike, on his letterhead, apparently with his classic signature, How can I tell for sure if it is authentic? Does anyone have a copy of his signature?
